Fandoghi Pistachio, also known as Fandoghi Round Pistachio, is Iran’s most widely produced Round Pistachio variety and accounts for approximately 50% of the country’s total pistachio production. For this reason, it is considered one of the principal varieties used in international trade and bulk pistachio exports. Due to its round shape, light-colored shell, uniform sizing, attractive kernel color, suitable naturally open-shell percentage, and competitive price, it is a preferred choice for importers, processing factories, economy retail packs, and food industries. The Iran Pistachio Association identifies Fandoghi as Iran’s most widely consumed commercial variety, which is still cultivated across most traditional pistachio-producing regions.

The highest volume of Iranian Fandoghi Pistachio is produced in Kerman Province, particularly in Rafsanjan, Anar, Zarand, Sirjan, and Shahr-e Babak. It is also commercially cultivated in Razavi Khorasan, Semnan—especially Damghan—Yazd, and Qazvin provinces. Fandoghi Pistachio is commonly supplied in the export sizes 26/28, 28/30, 30/32, and 32/34 Count per Ounce, with 28/30 and 30/32 representing the largest share of international demand. Because it provides a higher number of nuts per kilogram, this variety is an economical option for bulk purchasing and offers a practical balance between quality, price, and commercial yield.
