Kalleh Ghouchi Pistachio, also known as Kalleh Ghouchi Jumbo Pistachio, is one of Iran’s most valuable Round Pistachio varieties. Owing to its exceptionally large nut size, round shape, bright shell, plump kernel, high percentage of naturally open shells, and premium appearance, it is classified among Iran’s finest export-grade pistachios. Its impressive size and luxurious presentation make it the preferred choice for premium nut retailers, luxury gift packaging, and high-end Arab markets. The Iran Pistachio Association recognizes Kalleh Ghouchi as one of the four principal commercial pistachio varieties in Iran. Although this cultivar experienced significant expansion in previous decades, the establishment of new orchards has become more limited because of its relatively high sensitivity to water scarcity, saline irrigation water, and climatic fluctuations. Consequently, most current production comes from mature orchards.

The largest production of Iranian Kalleh Ghouchi Pistachio is concentrated in Kerman Province, particularly in Rafsanjan, Anar, Zarand, Sirjan, and Shahr-e Babak. Commercial cultivation is also found in Yazd, Razavi Khorasan, and Semnan provinces. This variety is commonly exported in 18/20, 20/22, 22/24, and 24/26 Count per Ounce sizes, with 20/22 and 22/24 representing the highest international demand. Lower count numbers indicate larger nuts and greater commercial value.
